The title and 5 star rating says it all, but some more detail might help people with the same issue:

My 2005 4Runner had the Check Engine Light come on from time to time - which on my model, also lights up VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, and a slip indicator. It's alarming when you're not expecting it, especially in winter with slick roads when you actually want that stuff.

I found out online that this could be a common problem with a loose gas cap on my model. I would tighten the gas cap, and 1-3 days later the lights would be back to normal - or disconnect the battery and they reset. As the months passed, this became more and more frequent.

Eventually the cap would not tighten securely at all. It still clicked when tightening it, but then would unscrew with almost no pressure, leaving a constant Check Engine Light. This cap appears to be an exact factory OEM replacement. It was a few bucks cheaper here than what the stealership wanted, and more importantly Amazon saved me $6 worth of gas and an hour of my life not driving there and back. Comparing it with the old cap, I could see how worn down the white plastic nubs had become over the years. No more Check Engine Lights now.
