Decided to post a review this OPT 7 HID kit for those curious on how they look and if they hold up. I am on a budget, so I considered less expensive kits, but felt like amazon had more reliable vendors from experience. Search through the list of brands, but felt that most weren’t up to par, mostly because a lot of the reviews says they had issues with the plug and play compatability. I actually decided on OPT 7 through a friend that bought it and had good things to say, otherwise I wouldn’t have considered it since there werent’ any reviews... For around $40 bucks shipped for the blitz series, this kit if DEFINITELY a value. It’s not the cheapest, but the quality and the additional accessories provided justify the extra few bucks. What I received far surpassed my expections esepcially for an aftermarket HID kit. I had bought a kit for my civic for $35 bucks on ebay 2 years ago and the lights kept flickering and turn on and off. The best thing for OPT 7 kits is 1. The install literally is a snap 2. These are MUCH brighter and whiter than the kit I bought on ebay. It’s true I bought a 6000K color this time vs 8000K, but the brightness shows the difference in quality. It’s no wonder I try to stick to amazon more often these days. It makes me wonder if the bolt series is both brighter or simply lasts longer.
I’ll write a follow up review in 3 months to give an update on the durability of the kit. FYI, these are for a 2010 Civic

The title and 5 star rating says it all, but some more detail might help people with the same issue:

My 2005 4Runner had the Check Engine Light come on from time to time - which on my model, also lights up VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, and a slip indicator. It's alarming when you're not expecting it, especially in winter with slick roads when you actually want that stuff.

I found out online that this could be a common problem with a loose gas cap on my model. I would tighten the gas cap, and 1-3 days later the lights would be back to normal - or disconnect the battery and they reset. As the months passed, this became more and more frequent.

Eventually the cap would not tighten securely at all. It still clicked when tightening it, but then would unscrew with almost no pressure, leaving a constant Check Engine Light. This cap appears to be an exact factory OEM replacement. It was a few bucks cheaper here than what the stealership wanted, and more importantly Amazon saved me $6 worth of gas and an hour of my life not driving there and back. Comparing it with the old cap, I could see how worn down the white plastic nubs had become over the years. No more Check Engine Lights now.

Bought this for my pro mechanic son. Lots of good info. Most pros will know much of it but surely not all. Everyone can learn something from this book. Anyone who works on OBD1 and OBD2 vehicles should have this in their toolbox. You are bound to need it sooner or later, and when you do you'll be happy to have it. Covers many makes and models, includes all generic codes as well as many manufacturer specific codes. Clearly written. Easy to understand. A good reference book. Keep it in the bathroom until you learn it all.

It was shipped on Tuesday and I got it, it in mail, on Saturday. I've been repairing my own vehicles since 1969. So far the OTC 3111 Pro is working flawlessly. I have a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 1996 Ford F-350 Powerstroke and a 2007 Dodge Caliber. It read the Toyota and Dodge fine but, not the Ford. I hadn't updated it yet and so this was expected. On the first reading it gave some erroneous codes on the Toyota including ABS and SRS codes I knew were wrong. Erased them and did another scan and it did read correctly that the Toyota has a problem with the airbag system. It read all the Engine, ABS and SRS codes for both vehicles with no problems. Installing the software on the computer was a bit tricky. The first CD deck would not recognize the disk. Luckily, I have 2 CD/DVD read/write decks in my desktop. Put it in the second deck and it read it fine. Must be an aberration of not liking certain decks. The Scanning Suite installed fine. Proceeded to update the software to the 3111 Pro.

When it went to look for the instrument it had to install a USB driver for it to communicate with the computer. I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit. It found the driver automatically and, installed it. If your using an older OS you may have to locate the driver or use a generic one and manually install it. Without it, it will not communicate with the scanner. It took approximately 6 minutes to do the update and it was done. Went back to the 1996 Ford 7.3L diesel and after manually putting in the information in on the truck, it now reads the codes for the engine. OTC stated in the look up sheet it would not read ABS or SRS codes for the F-350. I'm quit happy and surprised at how quickly it reads and all the functions it has. More testing of live data and other functions to come.
